1752 - Benjamin Franklin ties to a key to a kite-string to experiment with lightning  
1800 to the Current Age  
1812 - The Beginning of the "Action Figure": Little Henry  
1822 - Babbage proposes the "Difference Engine"  
1863 - Jules Verne's First novel is published - the "science-fiction" novel is born  
1876: Thomas Edison Invents the Geek Factory  
1884 - Nikola Tesla goes to work for Thomas Edison (and then quits)  
1897 - The Yellow Kid debuts as the first US produced comic book  
1903 - Marie Curie establishes (in case there was any doubt) that geekiness is gender-neutral - and wins 2 Nobel Prizes  
1909 - A C Gilbert establishes the "Mysto Corporation"  
1920 - Issue #1 of Hugo Gernsback's "Science and Invention" magazine  
1926 - Robert Goddard successfully launches "Nell", the first modern rocket  
1927 - Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" - the first multi-million $ Sci Fi blockbuster  
1934 - As Planet Mongo threatens the Earth - Flash Gordon (the inspiration for Star Wars) debuts  
1946 -  ENIAC is turned on, and the term "debugging" enters the geek lexicon

March 1978 - The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy radio series is first broadcast
